IT onboarding, explained
How long does IT onboarding take?
Most businesses are fully onboarded with Four Winds IT in 1-14 days. Every client gets an onboarding specialist and a lead engineer, a kickoff meeting to start and a wrap-up meeting when everything is in place. Support starts the day you sign, and hardware swaps happen after hours, so your team never loses a workday.

Two people who own your onboarding, start to finish.

Onboarding specialist
Your main point of contact. Runs the kickoff meeting, keeps everything on schedule, sends welcome emails to your team, and leads the wrap-up meeting.
Lead engineer
Owns the technical work: the handoff from your old provider, security, backups, documentation and any hardware swaps. Knows your environment from day one.
What happens, and who does what.
Four steps from first call to fully onboarded. Most of the work is on our side of the table.

Your team calls us
What you do
- Reach out whenever your team needs help
- Send a name and a department for each new hire
What we do
- Support starts the day you sign
- Book your first road map meeting as soon as onboarding wraps
- Keep meeting on a set cadence so your IT matches your business
New hires ready on day one. Just send a name and a department.
During onboarding we build a matrix that maps every role and department to the apps, files and access it needs. After that, adding a new hire takes one email.
- Accounts, apps and folders ready before their first day
- The right access for the role, and nothing extra
- Access removed cleanly when someone leaves
However your team prefers to ask for help.
Every person on your team gets our contact info in their welcome email. A real person from our own team picks up, and the average response is 15 minutes.

Send it in, we pick it up
Video call

Remote support
We connect, with your permission
Less than you think.
If you can't find something, that's fine. We track it down.
A point of contact
One person on your team we can coordinate with. Usually an owner or office manager.
Your software and vendors
A list of the apps and vendors you use, if you have one. If not, we build it.
Access to what you own
Admin access to your accounts, or your current provider's contact. We take the handoff from there.
A heads-up on changes
New hires, office moves or projects on the horizon, so we can plan around them.
“We were hesitant to change IT providers as we had been with the same one for 17 years & change is hard...or so we thought! Not with Four Winds IT! The transition was absolutely seamless.

How long does IT onboarding take?
Most businesses are fully onboarded in 1-14 days, depending on the number of devices, locations and systems involved.
Will onboarding cause downtime?
No. We plan everything around your workday, and if hardware needs to be swapped out, our team does it after hours.
Who runs our onboarding?
Every client gets an onboarding specialist and a lead engineer. They run your kickoff meeting, handle the work, and walk you through everything at a wrap-up meeting when onboarding is complete.
When can our team start calling you?
From the day you sign. Support starts right away, even while onboarding is still underway.
How does our staff reach support?
Phone, email, video call or our client portal. With your permission, our team can also connect to a computer remotely to fix things on the spot. Everyone on your team gets our contact info in their welcome email.
Are there setup fees?
There are no setup fees on unlimited support agreements. If onboarding uncovers a bigger one-time project, like replacing an aging server, we quote it separately and in writing before anything happens.
What if we don't know the answers on the questionnaire?
That's expected. Skip anything you don't know. Our team fills in the gaps on-site and with your current provider.
