We're Four Winds IT.
And we do things differently.
We're not another IT company run by engineers who speak in jargon and sell you things you don't need. We're business people who happen to be really good at technology.
It started on a napkin.
In 2014, Don Borden sat at Big Top Brewery in Sarasota with a simple observation: small and medium-sized businesses were being left behind.
Enterprise companies had entire IT departments. SMBs got cookie-cutter solutions from providers who cared more about tech specs than business outcomes. They got engineers who couldn't explain things in plain English. They got surprise bills and finger-pointing when things went wrong.
Don had spent years as a Six Sigma Black Belt, running divisions at companies like Crane Company (a Fortune 500 industrial giant) and Hubble Corporation (a global aerospace leader). He knew what good business operations looked like. And he knew IT wasn't delivering it for the companies that needed it most.
"What if we built an IT company that started with business outcomes, not technical checklists?"
What drives us
The principles we've followed since that first napkin sketch.
Business-first thinking
Every recommendation starts with your goals, not our product catalog. We're Six Sigma trained process obsessives who believe technology should serve business outcomes, not the other way around.
Relentless improvement
Founded by a self-professed "process junky," innovation and change are in our DNA. Every day we look for ways to do things better. If something can be improved, we improve it.
People over tickets
You're not a ticket number. You're a business we genuinely want to see succeed. When you call, you talk to engineers who know your name and your systems. That's not marketing speak. That's how we operate.
By the numbers

We build from within.
At the six-month mark, something special happens for our team members: they earn their stapler. Yes, really.
The Stapler Ceremony happens at Big Top Brewery, the same place where Four Winds was born. It's quirky. It's meaningful. And it represents something we take seriously: investing in people for the long haul.
We don't just hire experience. We grow it. Most of our full-time team started as interns. We train them, mentor them, and watch them become the experts our clients rely on.

When it mattered most
2020 tested everyone.
When the world shut down, our clients didn't. We made sure of it.
Our team went to offices and homes across Southwest Florida, taking every health precaution, to ensure businesses could keep operating. Remote setups. Hybrid configurations. Essential workers who needed to stay in the office. Whatever it took.
The result? Every single one of our clients stayed in business through the pandemic. Not because they were lucky. Because we made sure they had what they needed to keep going.

Why this matters to you.
Our story isn't about us. It's about what it means for you as a client.
When your IT company is built on business outcomes instead of technical ego, you get a partner who actually listens. When they invest in their people, those people stick around and learn your systems. When they've survived a pandemic alongside their clients, you know they'll show up when it matters.
- Engineers who answer your calls know your name and your systems
- Low turnover means you're not constantly re-explaining your business
- Business-first thinking means recommendations that make sense for your goals
- A team that's been through crises together and knows how to respond
