Written by Four Winds IT, a Sarasota-based managed IT provider serving Southwest Florida since 2014. We're one of the providers on this list, so we've stuck to facts each company publishes about itself and linked to the source. We support 300+ businesses across the Gulf Coast, so we know this market from the inside. This guide covers what to look for in a local MSP and compares real providers you'll find between Tampa Bay and Naples.
Picking the wrong managed IT provider can cost you more than a monthly invoice. It can cost you downtime during hurricane season, a failed compliance audit, or a week spent explaining to clients why their data was exposed. The options in Southwest Florida are growing, and they are not interchangeable.

Run every MSP you evaluate through these six questions:
01
Response time
How fast does a real technician pick up? Ask for a documented average, not a promise.
02
Local on-site support
Can they physically show up the same day? Where is their team actually located?
03
Pricing model
Per user, per device, or flat rate? Know what you're paying for and whether hardware carries a markup.
04
Contract terms
Are you locked into a multi-year agreement? Will they charge you to hand over your passwords and documentation on the way out?
05
Industry experience
Do they understand your compliance requirements (HIPAA, SEC, trust accounting), or will you be teaching them?
06
Cybersecurity stack
Do they offer active threat monitoring and managed detection and response, or just antivirus?
Four Winds IT is headquartered in Sarasota and has supported Gulf Coast businesses since 2014. The team supports more than 300 organizations across Tampa Bay, Fort Myers, Naples, and Venice, with a 15-minute average remote response time and same-day on-site support for most situations.
Four Winds IT holds a 4.9-star Google rating and prices managed IT per computer rather than per user, so businesses with shared workstations or part-time staff are not paying for every badge in the building. There are no long-term contracts, no hardware markups, and no fees to offboard if you decide to leave. The team works with law firms, healthcare practices, financial advisors, nonprofits, manufacturers, and construction companies. Cybersecurity is layered to fit the business, from endpoint protection and email security up to 24/7 security operations center (SOC) monitoring and managed detection and response through Blackpoint Cyber.
Pros: 15-minute average response time; transparent per-computer billing with no hardware markup and no offboarding fees; Sarasota headquarters with same-day on-site coverage for most situations from Tampa to Naples.
Cons: On-site visits to Tampa or Naples can take longer than visits around Sarasota; built for businesses of roughly 10 to 150 employees, so large enterprises may want a bigger operation; package pricing is quoted per business rather than published online.
Entech has served Florida businesses since 1998 and is headquartered in Fort Myers, with Gulf Coast offices in Bradenton, Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, and Naples, plus locations on Florida's east coast. Entech focuses on businesses with 20 to over 100 users and offers managed IT, cybersecurity, IT leadership (vCIO) services, and risk and compliance advisory. In 2023 Entech acquired Bradenton-based IT Solutions Group. (entechus.com)
Entech cites a 15-minute average response time and a 98% client satisfaction rate. (entechus.com)
Pros: Nearly three decades in the market, multiple Gulf Coast offices, IT strategy services.
Cons: No office in Tampa Bay or Sarasota (Bradenton is the closest); built for 20+ user businesses, so very small teams may not be the target; no published on-site response time.
Thrive is a national managed services provider headquartered in Foxborough, Massachusetts, with roughly 29 locations, including Sarasota, Tampa, and Miami. Thrive entered Sarasota in 2022 by acquiring SouthTech, a local MSP founded in 1994. It offers managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud, Microsoft 365, and compliance services. (thrivenextgen.com)
Thrive's published services guide lists ticket response targets by priority: within one business hour when all systems are down, four business hours for high priority, and eight business hours for standard issues, with the service desk staffed weekdays 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern. (thrivenextgen.com)
Pros: Large national team and service catalog, local Sarasota office, long local history through SouthTech.
Cons: National company, so decisions and processes are set outside Florida; published response targets are measured in business hours rather than minutes.
MET Florida is a locally owned, women-owned business founded in 2005, serving Fort Myers, Naples, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, and Sarasota. It is an approved vendor for the State of Florida, Lee County, the City of Fort Myers, and the City of Cape Coral, and it partners with more than 700 technology vendors. MET Florida also offers HIPAA and PCI compliance consulting. (metflservices.com)
MET Florida says same-day on-site response is the norm for Fort Myers clients. (metflservices.com)
Pros: Two decades in Southwest Florida, approved government vendor, compliance consulting.
Cons: No published remote response time; limited published client count or case studies.
ProNet Solutions has been based in Punta Gorda since 2006 and covers DeSoto, Charlotte, Lee, and Collier Counties. It offers managed IT, encrypted cloud backup (448-bit encryption with 15-minute backup intervals), and network wiring and design. (gopronet.net)
ProNet publishes one of the strongest on-site promises in the region: a technician on-site within one hour of dispatch in Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, and Arcadia during business hours, and same-day on-site in Cape Coral, Fort Myers, and Naples. (gopronet.net)
Pros: Nearly 20 years in Charlotte County, one-hour on-site response in its home area, built-in encrypted cloud backup, cabling and network design in-house.
Cons: Coverage centered on roughly a 50-mile radius around Punta Gorda; no published presence in Tampa Bay.
SWFIT is headquartered in Venice, was founded in 2017, and serves Tampa Bay to Naples. It uses AI-driven monitoring, offers same-day on-site service, and works with organizations from 5 to 1,000 users across healthcare, legal, financial services, and other industries. SWFIT publishes a 12-minute median first response on emailed tickets. (swfit.io)
Pros: Published response-time metric, Venice headquarters, AI-driven monitoring.
Cons: Younger company than most on this list; no published client count; the 12-minute figure covers email tickets, and after-hours response is a paid add-on.
Nerds On Site was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in London, Ontario, with technicians across the United States and Canada. Its technicians are independent contractors who run their own businesses under the Nerds On Site brand and pay a monthly license fee to use its platform. In Florida it lists service areas including Tampa Bay, St. Petersburg, and Port Charlotte. It offers managed IT, cybersecurity, and on-site support for home and business clients. (nerdsonsite.com, iwanttobeanerd.com)
Pros: Coverage for multi-location businesses across North America, three decades in operation.
Cons: No published response time for business clients; licensed independent-contractor model, so the experience depends on which local technician you get; limited Southwest Florida footprint (Port Charlotte is the only listed area in the region); serves both home and business users rather than focusing on business IT.

| ProNet Solutions | Punta Gorda, FL | 2006 | 1-hour on-site in Charlotte County |

Response commitments are taken from each provider's own website as of October 2026 and measure different things (remote response, email tickets, or on-site arrival). Ask every provider to define exactly what their number covers.
Ask how they bill, what's included, and what happens when something breaks at 2 a.m. Ask to speak with a current client in your industry. If the MSP hesitates, that tells you something.
Also ask how they handle vendor coordination. When your line-of-business software goes down, you should be calling one number, not three. A good MSP owns the whole problem instead of making you play middleman between software vendors, internet providers, and hardware manufacturers.
Not every MSP delivers real cybersecurity. Some install antivirus and move on. Others run a full stack with endpoint detection, email filtering, security awareness training, and 24/7 SOC monitoring.

Ask whether the provider offers managed detection and response (MDR), not just alerts, and ask for their ransomware recovery record. Four Winds IT has never failed to recover a client from a ransomware attack.
Four Winds IT is a strong fit if you want a Sarasota-based team that answers in 15 minutes on average, shows up the same day for most situations, prices per computer, and doesn't lock you into a long-term contract. If you need a national footprint across dozens of states, a provider like Thrive may suit you better. If you're in Charlotte County and want a provider down the street, ProNet is worth a call.
If your current provider makes you wait, charges you for things you don't understand, or can't explain their security stack in plain language, it might be time for a conversation.
Comparing providers right now?
We'll walk you through how we'd support your business, with an itemized quote.
Let's talk about your businessMany providers quote $150 to $300 per user per month for fully managed IT. Pricing depends on how many users and devices you have and which security layers you need. Four Winds IT prices per computer rather than per user, which typically keeps costs lower for businesses with shared workstations or part-time staff. Ask any provider for an itemized breakdown before you commit.
Most IT work is remote, so a national provider can work. Local providers typically offer faster on-site response and know regional realities like hurricane preparedness and seasonal staffing. See our pages for Tampa Bay, Fort Myers, Naples, and Venice.
Most regional MSPs work with healthcare, legal, financial services, and professional services firms. See how Four Winds IT supports each industry we serve.
A good MSP handles the transition: documenting your systems, securing accounts, and coordinating with your current vendors. Four Winds IT onboards most clients in 1 to 14 days, with hardware swaps done after hours.
Break-fix means you call when something fails and pay per incident. Managed IT means your systems are monitored and maintained proactively for a predictable monthly fee, so problems get caught before they reach your desk.
